Victor's Wedding

Victor and his bride.

We had our first wedding this year. Victor, the street child who was made to beg on the streets from 3 years old, he suffered abuse from the gypsy family who controlled him resulting in him having a broken nose and arm. Victor came to us in Genesis House from a street shelter, but his age was undetermined, so we guessed it to be about 11 years old. Victor settled into Genesis House remarkably well considering he had never had a real home, this in part was due to the understanding of our former Foster Parents, Olena and Sasha. They encouraged Victor to learn the saxophone and play the piano which he soon excelled at, they channelled his sometimes disruptive behaviour into Circus School where he became an expert acrobat and tumbler. Victor remarkably went on to college studying social care and like most residential students he had to apply to our Foster Parents for top up funds whilst he learned to live on a limited budget. Because of your support this young man has gone on to start his own family and provide his new wife with a home and hopefully a secure future.

Sasha & Olena, our former foster parents visited us recently and when they told us that our first set of foster children in Genesis House were in touch with them via Facebook, they told of the time they spent at Genesis House. Anton, Sophia, Masha, Yarik and Yan all remember their time and are grateful for the care and love they received plus the life skills and education they were taught which with the help of their adoptive parents has enabled them to go on to higher education and achieve their personal goals. Masha spoke to me on Skype, she is a beautiful girl and a talented artist who is about to start with art lessons from an experienced tutor. Sophia also spoke via Skype and although she had some emotional problems is living independently and working hard.

I think this means “Yes we have made a difference”.  None of these young lives would have been saved without the help of you, Our Friends and Supporters, but most importantly with our faith we know we are doing the Lords work.
