Genesis Family Update

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We would like to share with you a letter from our Genesis House foster family in Ukraine.
Despite ongoing Russian missile attacks the family is trying to lead a normal life
and care for the children in the best way possible.

Warm Greetings from the Genesis House!

We are very happy to greet you again, our English friends!

Time goes fast. Many months have already passed since our last letter to you. I want to write to you briefly about our family and thank you for your continued support for our children. Without it, it would be very difficult for us to survive now.

May God bless you a hundredfold for your compassion and help!

We are having a very hot summer now. The power is often turned off, and air sirens are regularly sounding to warn us about incoming Russian missiles. It’s good that the children are already on their summer holidays, so it’s much easier to endure all this at home. Sometimes we go swimming to the lake. On July 12, four of our children—Timur, Vlad, Stas, and Jasmina—went to a summer camp for rest. Katya and Anya went on a youth vacation.

In May of this year, another girl, Jasmina, joined our family. She is kind and diligent. She is an orphan as both her parents died before the war. However, our Katya has to leave us soon. She was accepted into Construction College and will begin studying there in September, living in student accomodation. Therefore, our number of children will remain the same. The children are growing up, thank God. Sometimes we have to deal with their health issues, but thanks to your financial support, we can solve them: Vlad and Stas need constant vision correction, Anya has a problem with her teeth and needs braces, Timur broke his arm last year and had pins inserted, which were removed this July, all requiring funding.

Thanks to God, despite the war we can still get medical care for our children in our country and even hope that they will rebuild our “Okhmatdit” hospital and everything else that our enemies destroyed. If only this war would end!!!

Now we are helping to make trench candles, which are very necessary for our soldiers in the cold season. Our eldest daughter Svitlana was engaged in this all last year. Now she and her friends make the blanks, and we fill them with paraffin.

Also, as always, we have work in the garden. The children help Oleg and me a lot with the household chores. They can eat home-grown fruits and vegetables all summer long, thank God.

In July, our roof was partially repaired: the places where the nails were driven in were sealed to prevent leaks. However, the lofts were only partially repaired because they are very high and required other equipment. This should be completed later.

You may be aware that the enemy has been targeting our power stations in recent months and the power supply is a big problem.  We do have a small generator which can power our water and heating boiler, but we would like to ask for your help to source an uninterrupted power supply unit so that we have light and basic facilities in winter during blackouts.

Thank you again for your financial help and prayerful support!

May God bless you abundantly!

With much love Oleg and Natasha
